Porcelain Veneers Milwaukee

Young woman with dark hair smiling and looking quite happyPorcelain veneers are among the most-requested cosmetic dentistry treatments available today. This treatment can address several types of aesthetic imperfections with one simple solution. Veneers are thin sheaths of porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces of natural teeth to conceal stains, discoloration, cracks, chips, and other cosmetic flaws. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your teeth and want to have a radiant, youthful-looking smile you'll be proud to show off, we encourage you to contact our offices today and learn whether porcelain veneers are right for you.

Candidacy for Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can create a star-quality smile for virtually any patient. They are a great cosmetic option for patients whose teeth are:

  • Chipped
  • Cracked
  • Worn down
  • Discolored
  • Stained
  • Spaced Too Far Apart
  • Slightly Crooked

Because they are custom-crafted, porcelain veneers look beautiful and natural, complementing the unique characteristics of each patient's smile. Suitable candidates for porcelain veneers should have basically healthy teeth and gums. Patients with gum disease or extremely crooked teeth may not be good candidates for porcelain veneers. Dr. Czaplicki carefully evaluates patients during their initial consultations to determine whether porcelain veneers are an appropriate treatment for them. If not, he suggests alternative treatments that will enable them to achieve the results they desire.

How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?

Porcelain veneers can be applied in just three visits to Czaplicki Family Dentistry. During the first visit, patients meet with our experienced team to discuss the placement of the veneers. During a second visit, Dr. Czaplicki prepares the teeth for the veneers by removing a small amount of enamel. This makes space for the veneers so that they fit comfortably within the mouth and look natural. If necessary, our team uses a local anesthetic to put patients at ease during their treatment. Patients are generally fitted with temporary veneers while their permanent ones are being crafted in our laboratory.

Patients return to our offices a third time once their permanent porcelain veneers have been created and sent to us. Dr. Czaplicki evaluates each individual veneer to ensure its quality. Each one is then tested against its respective tooth to make sure that it fits properly. Then, the veneers are bonded using a special adhesive and activating light. Once in place, the treated teeth are immediately functional. Dr. Czaplicki ensures that the veneers do not interfere with the patient's natural bite, and he or she is free to go. We usually recommend a follow-up visit a few weeks after the placement of veneers to ensure that they are not interfering with the bite in any way.

How to Care for Porcelain Veneers

Once in place, porcelain veneers are to be cared for in much the same manner as natural teeth. Patients should floss, brush, and rinse as they normally would. Veneers are durable and highly stain-resistant, so they retain their beauty and integrity even years after their placement.

With proper care and cleaning, porcelain veneers can last for a decade or even longer. When a veneer does become loose or fall off, however, it will need to be replaced. Because of the removal of enamel from the natural teeth, they will always require veneers in order to look natural and function properly. We can order and receive new veneers in just a few weeks.
